Please see some of my frequently asked questions.
Q. — How do I get a quote for a celebration or birthday cake?
A. — You can either use the ‘Contact Me’ page on this website and send me a message, or you could ring or text. I will try and answer your query the same day.
Q. — How do I get a quote for a Wedding Cake?
A. — To give you a full price for a Wedding Cake you will be invited for a consultation, either here or at your home. Consultations are free of charge and completely informal. You will be under no obligation to place an order.
Q. — What would I need to bring along to the consultation?
A. — The more the better really; if you have any pictures of cakes that you particularly like (or dislike), an idea of numbers, colours (swatches would be really helpful), I will also need to know the time and venue to avoid clashing with another booking. If you would like cake samples at the consultation, please let me know beforehand.
Q. — How many people can come?
A. — Up to four people are welcome to attend.
Q. — How much notice do you need for an order?
A. — Short answer — as much as you can! Obviously some cakes are needed at short notice, and I will do my utmost to oblige. It’s always worth asking, however, if I don’t think I could do the cake justice in the time given I would have to unfortunately decline. I would need a minimum of 4 weeks’ notice for any Rich Fruit Cake orders.
Q. — How much deposit is needed?
A. — A 30% deposit is required for all Wedding cakes and a 50% deposit for all other cakes. Please note ALL deposits are non−refundable. The balance on Wedding cakes will be due no later than 2 weeks before the bigday.
Q. — Do you deliver?
A. — Wedding Cakes are delivered free of charge within a 10 mile radius of CV35 0TR. Please see my Wedding Cakes page for all other areas.
Q. — Can I change my mind about my Wedding Cake design?
A. — You are very welcome to change your design right up until I start working on it. Basically, it is always safer to secure your chosen date with a deposit, then you can relax and keep updating your chosen design until you're really happy with it. As long as I haven't started working on any flowers or decoration, you can still change your mind. Please bear in mind, however, that all deposits are non−refundable.
Q. — What if we change the date?
A. — If your new date is still available in my diary, I will happily change it and still supply your cake/s. If, however, I am already booked for your new date, your deposit will be returned in order for you to find a new supplier. The full deposit will only be returned up to 3 months before the original date. After that date, only 50% of your deposit will be refunded, less the cost of anything I have already bought specifically for your cake.
Q. — I would like to buy some sugar flowers, do I have to order a cake too?
A. — Absolutely not. Sugar flowers are becoming more popular now, and make a lovely gift on their own. You can order from a single rose to a cascade of your favourite flowers. Please ask for a quote.
Q. — Do you cater for special diets?
A. — Yes, I will be happy to cater for your dietary needs. Please ask about my gluten — free or low sugar cakes, they will be charged as a basic sponge. Also, please note I do NOT use nuts in my fruit cakes unless requested.
Q. — Do you supply buffet cakes too?
A. — Yes, I have a wide range of gateau’s available, the list of flavours is on my ‘Menu’ page. These cakes are made freshly to order and can serve up to 20 people. They do not have to be part of a wedding order.
Q. — Would you be happy to decorate a cake that I have baked?
A. — Unfortunately not. The current regulations state that I have to keep a record of all the ingredients I use, and know where they were sourced. I’m afraid that wouldn’t cover any cakes not baked by myself.
Q. — Will my cake appear on your website?
A. — Yes, by purchasing a cake/s from White Hyacinth, you are agreeing to the picture being added to my gallery. If you would rather this didn’t happen, please let me know.
Q. — Can I buy vouchers as gift
A. — Yes, I have vouchers vailable, please get in touch and I can give you full details of the options available .
